At 25, Selena Gomez Is Now Feeling Stronger and Happier Than Ever

As someone who grew up in the entertainment industry, Selena Gomez has definitely experienced things that most of her peers cannot imagine. “I think it is really dysfunctional to be in this industry at a young age where you’re figuring out who you are,” the 25-year-old artist tells InStyle in a recent interview. “I don’t recommend it.”

Last fall, Gomez cancelled her ‘Revival’ tour and spent three months in a treatment center for depression and anxiety. Slowly stepping back into the limelight, the singer reveals that she’s finally feeling more herself these days, without worrying too much about whether she’s “liked” by the others or not. She’s also feeling more and more comfortable to speak up for herself:

Just recently I was by myself with people from my record label, and I looked down the table and said, “I respect your opinions, but you’re going to let me make the end call. Just give me a few days to sleep on it.” And I walked out and it felt like Anne Hathaway in The Devil Wears Prada, like, “Did I just … do that?” It felt good because I wasn’t being disrespectful. Just honest. -VIA
